Michael Poore collected four hits in four at bats as the Broaddus Bulldogs defeated San Augustine 10-1 on Thursday. Poore racked up singles in the second, third, sixth, and seventh inning to lead the Bulldogs offensively.
Broaddus got on the board in the second inning when 2 runs scored off a single by Cody Mundy. The Bulldogs continued their offensive attack in the third inning, notching three runs. Raybin Sowell, Josh Poore, and Mason Bennefield all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.
Aiden Sowell was lights out on the pitcher's mound for Broaddus. The righthander took the win, allowing one run and one hit, while striking out 12.
Broaddus totaled 18 hits in the game. Michael Poore, Aiden Sowell, Thomas Poore, Bennefield, Ray Sowell, and Hunter Scott all collected multiple hits for Broaddus.
With this win, Broaddus secured a playoff berth in district 24-2A. The Bulldogs will face Garrison in a doubleheader in Shelbyville on Friday, May 5. Game 1 will begin at 5pm with Game 2 to follow. If necessary, game 3 will be played on Saturday in Shelbyville.
